To me, Christmas means family. Is the time of the year when all the family meets again, and we are all together around a table filled with delicious food, talking about a great variety of themes, about how are our lifes treating us, etc. And of course, is when I use to remember my past memories, especially those that are related to my childhood, when Christmas was even more special for me than today.
Well, when I think in Christmas, the first thing that comes to my head is the family. Christmas is that time when all the families meet in one house and celebrate these days. It is usually that in these days the food will be a little different than the other days of the year. In my house all the family talk about the stories that have happened all over the year and it is a great moment to remember all the good memories, so it is very nice.
The first that I think when the Chrismas are coming, is that I have some relaxed days, with out working or studying, althought it is not true. I think that the most important fact on this little holidays is to stay with the family since I couldn't see them all over the year. Moreover, I can enjoy more the close family which are very busy the rest of the time.
I think that Christmas is a time of rest and bonding with all the family. I think that these are moments when you recover the innocence and are are wonderful days. For me, is the most magical time of the year.

Christmas it's a very special time to everyone, especially for great moments in which all the family are together. When I am with my family the night before Christmas day, we remember a lot of moments of the past. After lunch, we play bingo and we sing Christmas songs. Then, we do the Caga Tió, a typical Catalonian tradition. That's a trunk with a face drawn and a “barretina” (a red Catalonian beret). We sing a song and the family's children start to hit the trunk with a stick, requesting to that a lot of little presents, what are excreted by the Tió. It's a strange tradition, but it's so funny! Then we go to sleep and when we wake up, we find all of Santa Claus's presents under the Christmas tree! It’s a magic time.

I think that Christmas is a time of be with family. It is a special time when we are all together and can talk and eat a delicious food. We can rest in Christmas too and have a nice relaxing days.
In my case, Christmas is a time for staying with the family isolated of the real life and a period of time to relax and enjoy with the people who don't see along the year. This Christmas are being different, people who used to be in this days, they can't come or they had gone.. but in spite of this, the tradition has continued and we had played and had remembered all the things that we used to do! The first time I read this topic I thought that it wouldn't be easy to describe what Christmas mean to me. Probably, Christmas is the most amazing season of the year. Yeah, you know, the Christmas tree, the streets decoration, the preparation of Christmas Eve.. and what's more, the presents. So, maybe all of this together is what it means to me this time of the year. Althought, I'm agree that it's a time to remember the family but we musn't forget the hapiness. We must find sense in our lives and be happy in front the problems that could take place.
When I think in Chritsmas days, the first think that appears in my mind is the grandmother's dinner. All the family goes to grandmother's house on 25 of December. My grandmother cook a lot of delicious food and expect our arrival with a hilarious face. When all the family finish, is the time for presents! This is the most special moment because nobody knows that they give to you. Finally when you have received your present, often make a surprised and hilarious face! Chritsmas time means buy presents, hot chocolate, chritsmas songs, search a odious gap to put the chritsmas tree... Simply, this is a time to enjoy with your family, and friends.

I was expecting all the students to keep this blog very busy since I emailed all of you giving the guideline as I had already announced in class and the result is up to now very dissapointing. If we change the topic now only nine of you have commented on it. I think Dec.31st should be the deadline and I'm determined to choose the New Year as the next post theme as you propose. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Christmas is the smiles of my little cousin when he opens his gifts, the illusion that makes him and how much he enjoys. I also think of the good times spent at family dinners or meals, where we forget all the problems for a while. Christmas to me means hope, for everything bad becomes good. Christmas is for living intensely with family and close friends, but especially for new purposes as we enter a new year and we have to overcome our expectations to reach a satisfactory goal. Nor should we forget that they are dates to unwind and have fun so that we feel happy and make others feel happy.

Today is the Epiphany. The Twelfth Night puts an end to the Christmas period. Now that it is over let me tell you what is Christmas for me. To me Christmas is basically a combination of faith, love and family. It is mainly faith since at Christmas we celebrate the birth of Christ. It would be very weird to get ready for somebody’s birthday party and forget to honour this person, wouldn’t it? But X-mas is also values : love in a broad sense of the word - love for the poor, the ill, the forgotten, compassion, giving and sharing. And of course, Christmas is the season of spending time with the family, with all the members gathering around the dinner table, making bonds stronger and also remembering the departed. I wish we would always have a Merry Family Chritsmas.
For me Christmas time is a period for stay with the family, yes, but also is a time when oneself must realize the fate that have, because, when I'm stay eating around the table with 20 people next to me laughing and talking I think that I'm very fortunate. I know that Christmas is a very difficult period for someone because in this days the family remember very moments and miss people that isn't longer wiht us, but I always have a smile in this days because I think that is a time when is more important value that one have.

I don't like the christmas, because I think that we spend a lot of money with gifts and in the world, there are a lot of people that can't eat every day and dies for haven't money. Although I don't like eat a lot and the gifts, I like the christmas time because the student's don't go to school or university and I can be with my family and girlfriend.

But all this has changed because of capitalism and U.S. imperialism and the consumer society that make that Christmas is a time to spend money, eat a lot and not at all remember the values and the birth of jesus.

Christmas it's a very special time to everyone, especially for great moments in which all the family are together.
